Owen's Final Thoughts on Peace Summit
If everyone worked together to make these proposals happen, I do believe that this issue in Israel and Palestine could be fixed. The Palestinian refugee camps need to be taken away, and innocent people need to be let out of jail. There should be no checkpoints. These are all things that are very possible; they just need to be agreed upon by both sides. I know that there would still definitely be people who would want the "enemy" destroyed until they meet another person from the other side, like Faraj did in Promises. The hardest part about this operation would be convincing the teenagers because that is one of the biggest times for brain growth, so if you lost a family member—a brother, sister, father or mother, or any close relative—it could send you off course for a long time. I believe that just from seeing the part of Promises when Daniel and Yarko meet Faraj, they had no idea about each other, but then they met and had a ton of fun together. The only thing preventing more activity like this is the checkpoints, which could be taken away. This is why we need to switch, so that we can have a better future in the Middle East.
