Almost of the opinions in the "Peace Summit" would have possibly worked for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I think this because most of the ideas implemented fairness and equality for both sides. Some of the more equal ideas included equal rights for both sides, turning Jerusalem into an independent holy state to share, and equal aid to both sides. Some of the less equal ideas included giving all of Jerusalem to Palestine and giving more aid to the Israelis and less to the Palestinians. Since I am a American sixth grader, I am not really sure what the Israelis and Palestinians would think, but judging from what I know so far, I think a lot of them would say yes, and the peace would begin, but then someone would possibly ruin it by wanting something unreasonable, like all of Jerusalem, and there would be fighting and death, and possible another Intifada or war. I think with this plan of peace is good, but there are many ways it could not work.
Recently I was told that countries are often formed by some bigger, more powerful country, and sometimes they mix many different ethnic groups, but later when the country has more power, they will split. I believe that the Israel Palestine is an example of this. It was formed by the British, and when it gained more power, it became independent. I believe that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could be resolved by a combination of ideas, including those from Lee Gordon's Hand in Hand Schools, Harris Zafar's Muslims for Peace, the peace summit ideas, and my own ideas.
Here is how it would work: First, most schools in could be converted into Hand and Hand Schools where Israeli and Palestinian children can get to know each other. Second, when the children are older and they are the leaders, they can discuss peace, as well as other things like stopping settlements activity. Third, when peace is at a temporary point, the governments can turn Jerusalem into a place like Vatican City, so there is no arguing who gets it. Fourth, once Jerusalem is an independant holy state, the two countries come apart; anyone who wants to move from Israel to Palestine or Palestine to Israel could be given money from the government to get a new home. There could be Arabs living in Israel or Israelis living in Palestine.
This plan is not perfect, but it is an OK solution. Overall, peace can be achieved, even though the process would be difficult.
